PlayStation 3 系统软件是指PlayStation 3可升级系统软件以及PS3的操作系统。

PlayStation 3本机操作系统被称作“Cell OS”，据信是建基于 FreeBSD计划[2]。用于PlayStation 3的三维计算机图形API软件“LibGCM”和PSGL，则是基于OpenGL ES以及Nvidia旗下开发的Cg语言[3]。 PlayStation 3以“XrossMediaBar”（交叉媒体廊）作为其图形用户界面。[4]

最新的软件版本4.90，2023年2月28日发布更新。

软件升级方式

  • 网络更新：进入系统主选单的设定，选择系统更新后，按下○按钮（美版系統按下Ｘ按鈕）。之后选择通过国际网络更新即可；
  • 使用电脑更新：使用电脑替USB隨身碟等储存媒体新建一个名为「PS3」的文件夹，再于该文件夹下建立一个名为「UPDATE」的资料夹，将下载的更新资料放于「UPDATE」的文件夹内。将储存了更新资料的储存媒体插入PS3，进入主选单的设定，选择系统更新后，按下○按钮（美版系統按下Ｘ按鈕）。选择通过储存媒体更新后，按下○按钮（美版系統按下Ｘ按鈕）。
  • 光碟更新：有些遊戲光碟會內含新版本系統軟體，插入游戏光碟后，如果出现更新系统的提示画面，按下○按钮（美版系統按下Ｘ按鈕）即可。
